I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad math, but guess what?
Most humans are average.
The human experience is about being in the median,
learning you’re in the median,
then dealing with the fact that — surprise! — you’re still you.
The whole thing is pretty mean.
That was an average joke.
I’m an average writer.
But the game of my-ego-vs-yours isn’t won by playing.
MAYBE IT'S BOTH

You can’t have everything until you need nothing.
Generous is the most self-serving thing you can be.
Without villains, what would heroes do?
Forgiveness strips power from those addicted to control.
The easier it is to leave, the more likely I’ll stay.
Ego is the source of all pain, problems and religions.
We treat people as smart as we are.
Nothing is more honest than the reason you lied.
Name one pleasure that doesn’t cause pain;
one genius who’s not crazy;
one weakness that’s not a strength;
one art that doesn’t use science;
one ego that's not desperate for approval.
Name one end that’s not a beginning.

See the back of your hand up close and you’ll realize
you don’t know it so well after all.
That there’s more information in a single skin cell
than we could learn in a thousand lifetimes.
That's not intimidating;
It's exciting.
If you look at it right.
Because without incredible vision,
an eagle is just a bird.
Without its ability to sense blood,
a shark is just a fish.
And without music,
instruments just make noise.
Art is the discovery business.
Discovery doesn’t happen on purpose,
but does happen for one.
Here’s mine:
I believe ideas aren’t found;
they're excavated.
Breakthroughs don’t come from the outside;
they’re found on the inside.
Answers are earned one moment,
One moment;
One moment
at a time.
Because it turns out the journey up
was always a journey in.
